DECRUBES
Development and Assessment of Transversal Competences through Rubrics in the European Higher Education Area
2012-2013 Coordination Completed
This project predates the establishment of the group in 2019. It belongs to the track record of its members.
Objectives
Introduce assessment rubrics to develop and evaluate transversal competences (teamwork, oral and written communication, analysis, organization, problem solving) in the degrees of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Extremadura (Spain). The experience started in the first year of the Double Degree in Business Administration and Economics and was later extended to other courses and degrees.
Results and indicators
Applied in seven courses across four degrees, with very high student ratings: 87.5% said their teamwork skills improved, 90% their listening skills, 85% their understanding of technical content, and 80% considered rubric-based assessment more objective than traditional assessment. 70% recommended extending these methods to the rest of their degree. The team presented 12 papers at 4 national and international conferences, against the 2 planned, and achieved every objective without deviations.
