Formative Peer Assessment in the European Higher Education Area
2013-2014 Coordination Completed
This project predates the establishment of the group in 2019. It belongs to the track record of its members.
Objectives
Implement formative peer assessment (peer evaluation, self-assessment and iterative rubric-based co-assessment) so that students learn content and competences by taking part in their own assessment. It was applied in degrees from three fields: Primary Education Teaching, Business Administration and Economics.
Results and indicators
Students rated the experience very positively: 93.3% reported better teamwork skills, 86.7% better competences such as organization, autonomous learning or problem solving, and 80% better understanding of content. The VISUAL audiovisual learning platform was created, with students’ oral presentations recorded on video, and 2 papers were presented at conferences (Bilbao and Madrid, 2014). In the earlier pilot in Economic Growth every student passed the course, with 53.3% obtaining a B grade and 13.3% an A grade.
