FLIPPACT
Flipped Classroom and Active Learning in the European Higher Education Area
2015-2016 Coordination Completed
This project predates the establishment of the group in 2019. It belongs to the track record of its members.
Objectives
Implement the flipped classroom in courses of the Degree in Business Administration: students prepare the content at home with multimedia materials and class time is devoted to active learning. The aim was to improve transversal competences, academic performance and attendance.
Results and indicators
In Spanish and World Economy the June pass rate exceeded 77% of students sitting the exam (67 of 91 enrolled), compared with under 55% the previous year, with a clear drop in absenteeism. In Macroeconomics, 100% of students said they were better able to apply knowledge in practice, 96.7% reported better teamwork and 93.3% better understanding of content; more than half (53.3%) declared themselves fully satisfied with the method compared with lectures. The project involved more than 800 students in seven courses and had a paper accepted at the Irish Conference on Game-Based Learning 2016 (Trinity College Dublin, 1 and 2 September 2016).
